Due Jolly Winery

With thousands of wineries throughout Australia and a well-publicised wine glut, why would three friends decide to set up a new winery? A good question, with a reasonably boring answer: we simply enjoy making, drinking, and talking about wine!

Of course there’s little point in replicating the set-up and style of existing wineries, and so we try to be a little bit different in the way we approach our winemaking. In particular, we concentrate on developing fine wines that complement food. As a result, we are strongly influenced by European winemaking practices, which we adapt to suit the Western Australian environment. We therefore use rustic, but proven, traditional methods that allow the individuality of our selected vineyards as well as the season to be reflected in the wine’s character.

Our winery buildings are located at Pickering Brook in the Perth Hills – a modest collection of former fruit-packing sheds and cool rooms that are slowly being adapted to a new life.  Our cellar door, where morning and afternoon teas can also be purchased, will open in early 2011.

Our annual crush is small, ranging from 13 tonnes to 25 tonnes in any year. To date, we have bottled eight different wines (three reds and five whites) under the Due Jolly label.
