FLAVOURS OF CHITTERING 2010
Sunday, 12th September
The Flavours of Chittering one-day Food and Wine Festival - which brought more than 4,000 visitors to the region in its inaugural event in 2009 - is going to happen again on Sunday, 12th September this year.
The Chairman of the Flavours of Chittering Steering Committee and Chittering Valley Wine Trail, Bruce Cussen says: “Planning has now commenced for Flavours of Chittering 2010, which will take place on Sunday 12th September. We will draw on the experience of the inaugural event, incorporate the feedback we have received from participants, stallholders and visitors and concentrate on what can be improved on this year - whilst retaining the proven original concept.”
In conjunction with the event Steering Committee, Chittering Shire President Councillor Alex Douglas says that “last year’s festival was fabulous, even better than we had hoped for … the Shire is fully behind Flavours 2010.”
Last year, the hub of the event was the Lower Chittering Village Green in Chittering Valley Road where 17 local growers set out their stalls of fresh, seasonal produce and cooking demonstrations were held in the Village Hall. Six wineries from the Chittering Valley Wine Trail provided food and wine, entertainment and other attractions, including a Long Table Lunch, at their own locations.
Jylland Vineyard noted they had hundreds more customers than usual: “Visitors were all astounded at the variety of things in Chittering and the quality of the wines and foods. Some customers had been to several wineries and said the atmosphere was amazing and the whole concept was brilliant.”
